Jimmy Mars Captures Pair of World of Outlaws Wins on Wild West Tour!
MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN D - (July 15, 2010) - Jimmy Mars and his #28 Dirt Late Model team recently completed a very successful "Wild West Tour" with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, as they racked up a pair of $10,000 triumphs and two additional Top Five performances from July 7-10! Jimmy led all fifty circuits of the main event last Thursday at the Superior Speedway in Superior, Wisconsin to pocket $10,000 over Darrell Lanigan, Josh Richards, Brady Smith, and Brian Birkhofer. On Saturday evening, Jimmy was back in victory lane by leading all but one circuit in the 50-lap feature event at the Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, South Dakota. He crossed underneath the checkers first ahead of Darrell Lanigan, Steve Francis, Brady Smith, and Austin Hubbard at Huron.
In the other two "Wild West Tour" showdowns, the Menomonie, Wisconsin native wound up third in the annual 'Gopher 50' on Wednesday at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota and fifth in a rain-shortened race on Friday at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Complete results from all four World of Outlaws Late Model Series programs can be found online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.
“We have had an up-and-down year so far, but hopefully last weekend was a turning point for us,” quoted Mars earlier this week from his race shop. “Our car performed well at all four venues and we were able to get a couple of wins against some very good competition. Anytime you can beat those World of Outlaws guys, you have had a great night. I can’t thank all of my family, crew, and sponsors enough for their support, as it takes a total team effort to have success in this sport!”
Next up for the Mars Racing team will be a trip to the states of Illinois and Missouri for a pair of $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series showdowns on July 16-17. On Friday night, the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois will play host to a SPEED Channel taped event, while the pristine Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri will do the same on Saturday evening.
